Growing Old

I don't have very many memories of my Grandparents- at least as far as their marriages are concerned. My grandfathers both passed away within a year of each other during my first year of college. I had wonderful grandfathers- they both have taught me so much. My grandmothers have also been wonderful examples-
The thing that I do remember the most about my Grandparents is the way that they took care of each other. My Grandpa Leavitt was a very strong man- he was a cowboy- the true kind, not the dime store variety. He could jump up on a horse by putting his hands on hate horse's hind quarters and jumping. He was and is to me bigger than life. And my Grandpa loved my Grandma. My Grandma is from England-she was a hard worker, and loved all of us- she expected us to be good children, and loved us even when we weren't. and she took care of my Grandpa for years- through each surgery, through aching and aging she was always there for him. As my Grandma started forgetting things, it was amazing to see the roles shift- the stubborn old cowboy was the most patient man, who would put my Grandma's nylons on and make sure that her dress was zipped and everything was in place.
I think that this is the greatest thing that I have learned from my Grandpa and Grandma- how to have patience and love- no matter how life changes and the situations that arise. They showed me what love is like- and how marriages are supposed to be...the kind that you want to last forever....

I hate it when you type out a nice long post, and somehow you delete the middle portion......

Remembering...

I lived in a little a little town called Lewiston for the first two years I was in college. This was the first place I lived on my own. I had fun, made new friends, experiences some heartache and heartbreak, and made big choices. Lewiston was a nice place and you even got used to the smell of Potlatch after a while...The memories that I made there are well worth sharing- so enjoy, and maybe someday if you decide to go to Moscow, or Tri-cities, or even Lewiston- take a ride up 21st street or take a right down Main street and enjoy some of the pleasantness of this town.

There was a place in the mall called Mark's. They had the best cinnamon rolls and sandwiches. I remember going there on Thursdays with Amber and Collette. Or really any other time we needed to relieve stress, or celebrate....or just needed a good cinnamon roll.

Main Street Grill had the best coleslaw- and trust me I don't like coleslaw....I think it is generally nasty food. But it was really good there....plus the peanuts on the table...

The fire works over the confluence- who knew they would ever be that beautiful!

CSI parties at Amber's Place...

Dilly bars with Sara and Pat- the dilly bars haven't tasted the same without those two.

The five couples that got married within 3 months of each other.....

Thinking Chase was my stalker....and all of his dreams about the dinosaur baby I was pregnant with....Pickin' it up & puttin' it down

The sticky movie theater floor on Main street- and the Balcony that wouldn't allow you to sit straight in the seats because the rows were too close...

Mindy and her fiesty-ness, and love for life....and walking through the cemetery.

Sitting in the park when life got too much to deal with- and watching the sun set over the river.

The Branch House and the "Blue Room"

Dissecting Cats with Dr. Urqhart, Brian, and Laura- and Skittles....

Driving in the snow- with those who were not used to it:D

The way that the road numbers changed as you moved through downtown to the Vineyards and finally to the Orchards....Not to mention the Elks (there were a lot of places to be :D )

Laying bricks to make a walkway- even if it wasn't straight or level...

Field springs, and tubing.

Finally, the lights at Locomotive Park during the winter- it was beautiful!
